Strap Guide: JLC Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds Q397846J

Strap Guide written by @watchestoloveThank you Kevin!

Introduction

I think the Reverso Tribute Burgundy is probably the boldest watch in my collection. I never thought I would ever own a watch with a red dial, as I always deemed it to be somewhat feminine, until I saw it in person. My jaw dropped to the floor and was blown away by the richness of the red dial. Sometimes it’s near black, sometimes it’s burgundy, and when under the sun it’s blood red.

I also didn’t think it would match clothes that well, but it does. Then there’s the rectangular case, it just feels perfect on the wrist, the crown never digs in the skin thanks to the smaller surface area. The flipping mechanism is also incredibly addicting to play with and I play with it subconsciously far more than I would like to admit. The Reverso is just one of those versatile watches that is right at home with either a formal or casual look.

Huge thanks to Delugs for this strap guide opportunity, allowing me to share the different strap possibilities with this beautiful watch.

Dark Brown Pueblo Slim

Since I tried the blue pueblo strap for my Omiwatari guide, I’ve really grown to like this leather. The rustic appearance juxtaposes nicely against the elegant design of the Reverso. Dark brown is probably the safest possible color with a red dial, and it really shows here. The comfort is top notch thanks to the slimness of the strap.

Cream Epsom Slim

It’s hard to go wrong with Epsom leather. It’s soft, it’s comfortable, and it’s durable. This light cream color provides such a nice contrast with the red dial with a very casual look. I absolutely love this combo and it goes well with majority of my outfits. I think this would be my go to strap in this guide for everyday wear.

Glossy Taupe Brown Crocodile Signature

This padded glossy crocodile leather adds a layer of depth to the watch. Rather than taupe I would say this color is more of a chocolate milk brown. This is definitely the most formal strap in this guide but it’s a more fashionable alternative to a typical brown croc leather, allowing it to pair easily with more casual clothes as well.

Black Shell Cordovan Slim

I am usually not a fan of black straps, all the black OEM straps go straight into storage. However, I think the shiny black cordovan here absolutely makes the red dial pop, allowing it to take center stage. The natural sheen and smoothness of the cordovan leather gives off a super sharp look and is perfect for semi-formal occasions.

Purple Crazy Horse Side-stitch

I never thought I would get a red watch, and I never thought I would get a purple strap. Why not put the two together? This is my first time trying a crazy horse leather and I find it to be an interesting one. It’s got a matte finish that allows the polished case and indices to shine. The side stitch has a vintage/casual look which really dresses down the Reverso. It’s an unconventional combo but I think it’s a neat look!
